I wanted a place where I could write my thoughts. There are things one would like to say that would only cause discord, and everyone needs a place to just vent. It also helps to clear my mind for more creative endeavors, and that's something I've put off for a long time. While raising a child, I focused on doing that with the knowledge and understanding that it was something very short-lived. When you start out, it seems as if it will be a long time before your child is grown but in reality, the time goes by so very quickly. Twenty five years this August, and the time I had with her exclusively is very special. I believe our bond is strong because of that; which is not to say we always agreed. Mothers and daughters are destined to knock heads, but I began the journey with the intention of allowing her to become her own person. I hope I've done just that.
Now it's my time again. Old enough and yet still young enough to accomplish some more things in this lifetime. It would be nice to be ten years younger simply because I'm out of step with my own generation in many ways. I love today's music. I love tattoos and some piercings and skateboards. Some of the things I like are open to me but other things are not mine to have anymore which could make me sad if I let it. So I listen to my music and fraternize with people who are young enough to be my own children yet refrain from venturing into the places that I'd feel out of place in. It's enough to know I am young inside where it counts most. As long as my head and heart are young, the rest is as it should be.
